Our clients turned to BetterSpace to have a go at designing their semi-detached Twickenham home after feeling unsure about the designs proposed by a local architect.

Their local authority already granted the necessary permits to build a 3-meter back extension to the house. In addition to that, we were asked to design a loft extension that fits within the permitted-development guidelines.
The primary goal was to improve the use of space and after reviewing our client’s personal preferences, our design set to work, creating a private dining area located in adjacent to the family room which was separated by bi-fold doors.
For the loft, we propose to relocate the bathroom, placing the bed area by the window and the walk-in closet or lounge at the inner part of the room.
Being all ready to proceed with the build, the client wanted to make sure they were making all the right decisions. We provided a number of sketches, making small tweaks and allowing time for the client to consider our proposals. We discussed various measurements in-depth, making sure that all functional areas were adequately sized.
The result was a well designed and thought-through layout, taking into consideration the way each area functions to allow a perfect flow from top to bottom.
Seeing the design in 3D was enormously helpful for the client who finally felt confident to proceed with the build.

With ambitious goals, we were given a free hand to use the plot to its’ potential and create a dream home for the client and his family. After locking down the size and location of the double back and wrap around extension, we created a separate home office unit at the back of the garden.

By using large windows and a skylights, we’ve made sure that there was ample natural light. Converting the attic and basement into a living spaces, we’ve made full use of every square meter. We also removed the wall separating the front two rooms on the ground floor and created a light and airy open-plan space that also encourages more interaction. Purpose built storage space was spread generously around the house as well as some personal touches chosen by the client such as a Turkish hammam style bath and a sociable cooking style kitchen area which allows for socialising the food being prepared.
